Flat rate envelope FULLA coupons!

We've been collecting coupons for months and we've got a flat rate envelope full of clipped coupons, some expired, some still valid.  Most with expiration dates 6/1/10-8/30/10.

This would be great for a military family (or families) stationed overseas.

If anyone is interested, please let me know.  I am only asking the cst of shipping for the envelope- $4.95.  There are over 1200 coupons in the envelope.

We've changed our look!

I've been monkeying around with the look of the blog today, and I've picked a format that I like a little better- after all variety is the spice of life, right?

What do you think?

Info on the upcoming Couponing Classes

Couponing classes- Learn to save money and live better!

Ever wonder:

• How those people ahead of you in line at the grocery store buy an entire cart of groceries for pennies?

• How you can use your airline miles or credit card points to plan your vacation or buy something GREAT?

• How to really save money without eating PB&J and Cup O’Soup for every meal?

Now you can learn how to do all of the above, plus lots of other easy to use, easy to remember tips and hints that will help you save fifty plus percent when you are shopping for almost anything!

This series of classes will start with the basics and move towards the more advanced topics.

Class will be held once a week, for approximately 2 hours. Classes will go on for between 3-4 months, or until all the topics are covered to the students satisfaction.

There will be shopping trips to grocery and drug stores, as well as mass merchandisers as a group, as well as individual trips with each student to help each student sharpen their abilities.

There will be a one-time fee of $20.00 per student to cover the materials that each student will receive.

The materials will include:
• handouts at each class
• brand new spiffy coupon wallet
• scissors
• calculator
• pens/pencils
• highlighter

Class size will be limited to 4 or 5 students. If you don’t get into the first round of classes, you can get in on the next round! Please feel free to forward this email to your friends and family who live in the San Diego, CA area who also may be interested. Classes will be held in various locations in central San Diego, however, the majority of classes will be held in my home in San Diego.

When you email (akeen02037 at gmail dot com) to sign up- please indicate which days of the week you would like the class to be held and which days do not work at all for you.

Classes will start in August.

San Diegians- Couponing and money saving courses?

Would anyone be interested in local weekly couponing classes?
Classes would be once a week, in the evening (maybe 7-9 pm), I'll serve dinner (recipes will be provided too), we'll cover various topics surrounding couponing and money saving.
We'll meet for maybe 3-4 months (or as long as it takes to answer everyones questions and get everyone acclimated to the money savin' lifestyle).  We'll even have a couple shopping trips to grocery, drug and mass merchandisers, and there will be one on one shopping trips for each student.
There will be a one time fee of $20.00 per student to cover the materials each student will receive.  The materials  will include handouts at each class, a brand new spiffy coupon wallet, scissors, calculator, pens/pencils, highlighter.
I'll take on 4-5 students at a time, so if you don't get into the first batch, you can def. get into the next batch of classes.  For those of you who live outside my area, I might have a kit with all the materials available for sale, if that is of interest.

Holiday coupon insert reminder

For most of us, there will be no coupon insert(s) in the Sunday paper tomorrow.

Some of us will receive P&G insert.  I have missed the last few, it seems our local paper on the newsstand doesn't include P&G coupons.

Have a great Independence Day!

My day of free- a success!

Well, mostly.  Pesky sales tax!

My first trip was to Albertsons. I bought:

2 Kraft Mac n' Cheese $3.79 each(I received coupons for free products from Kraft)

2 Ronzoni Pasta products $1.69 each(I received coupons free products for filling out a survey from Ronzoni)

1 Bottle of Sauve Shampoo $1.99 each (Free coupon from Facebook- up to a $3.00 value)

1 DiGiorno Pizza $6.49(I received a $4.00 off Coupon from Kraft- I think.  It just appeared in my mail box one day.)

1 package of pens- $1.00.  There was overage, and I needed a non-food item (so as not to effect my grocery OOP for the week) to suck up the overage.  This resulted in a small OOP and sales tax.

I don't really shop at Albertson's all that much, so I didn't realize that when the checker scanned the coupons the register would automatically deduct the full value of each coupon, even if it exceeded the amount of the purchase price.  That's why I got overage.

[caption id="attachment_547" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="My Awesome Albie's Trip!"][/caption]

Pens not pictured- I left them in my car- they're going to work with me.

[caption id="attachment_548" align="alignnone" width="225" caption="Albie's Receipt- All that for just .85- woo hoo!"][/caption]

My next stop was CVS, where I have an Extra Care Buck worth $2.00 that was expiring soon.  We needed milk.  I scanned my CVS card at the entryway kiosk, and it spit out $2.50 MORE in ECB!

I picked up a gallon of fat free milk for $2.89, and I had a .55 coupon for the milk.  I also picked up a 2 liter of diet wild cherry Pepsi for my husband.  The shelf tag said $1.99.  Not a screaming deal, but we don't drink a lot of soda and he needed a treat for sticking with the All You Grocery Challenge. When I got to the register, it turns of the soda was only .99 and the .55 off coupon would have generated "too much" overage to quote the cashier, so I kept it.

my total OOP... .03!!

[caption id="attachment_549" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Check it out .03 for a gallon of milk and a 2 ltr. of soda!"][/caption]

The receipt shows 3 items, but the CVS system includes the bottle deposit/CRV as an item. :(

My next free adventure is heading over to Dream Dinners at 4pm for my free dinner for 3, courtesy of the Entertainment book!

WOO HOO!

What $17.65 looks like

I took a picture of my trip to 99 Cents Only Last week, but I didn't post the pic.

So, here it is.  This is what $17.65 will buy you:

[caption id="attachment_544" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="See what $17.65 will getcha?"][/caption]

In case you are wondering what I did with this plentiful bounty, The FiberOne bars are being consumed for breakfasts. THe International House Foods Coffee I made in a large pitcher (yeah, the whole package) and poured into re-usable bottles and stored in the fridge for iced lattes.  That tin made about 5 20 ounce bottles- that's alotta latte. That kept us in lattes for about a week.

I baked the asparagus in the oven after tossing it in oil and kosher salt, then topped it with balsamic vinegar and goat cheese.

The salad and whole wheat tortillas we took to a potluck, the ham steak we ate for breakfast last Sunday with scrambled egg white, which brings me to the eggs and onions.  Some were used in breakfast last Sunday, the rest I will continue to use throughout the weeks ahead when I cook.

The vitamin water I drank right after the photo was taken, washed the bottle and re-used it.  The Toberlone bars didn't make it to see the next morning.
