If you are a Rewards R Us member, you probably received an email last week letting you know that effective 2/29/12, the Diaper, Formula, and Greeting Card Rewards programs are ending. You can find more info here.
What does that mean? For my family, it means that we won't be shopping at Babies R Us as often, as there is now no great reward for doing so.
Little Man will be weaned off Formula in the next month or so, and we've been using the Wal*Mart generic brand, Parents Choice, for the past few months. Since all formula is FDA regulated, there is no nutritional difference in name brand vs. generic formulas. The differencein price is about $10.00 per container.
Target has been having some great store coupons for diapers as of late, which I've been pairing up with manufacturer coupons to save $7-9 per box. We've got a few boxes stockpiled, so we should be ok for a while.
One of the cardinal rules of being a hardcore couponer is: no brand or store loyalties. Keep your eyes and ears open for sales and coupons and the end of this program won't be the end of the world!

Savings resolution- online shopping
A lot of us shop online: Ebay, B&N, Old Navy.
There is no reason that you shouldn't earn cash back or points to be redeemed for gift cards for your online purchases.
A few companies offer such a service, at no cost to the shopper. You simply visit their website, log in to your account, enter the name of the website you are looking for in the search box, click on the link and shop as you normally would. You earn points for each dollar you spend. Points are then redeemed for gift cards to hundreds of merchants. The gift cards are mailed to you to use in brick and mortar stores on use them online for purchases from their website (and earn more points!).
My favorite website for earning points and free gift cards is Mypoints. You can earn points with purchases, or simply click the links in the emails they send you. You can also earn points by printing and redeeming the grocery coupons from their website- they offer both coupons.com and smartsource coupons.
If you are interested in joining, email me your email address. I will send you an referral invitation. Then you and I will both receive points.
I have been a member since July 2009, and in that time, I have just clicked their email links and done my usual online shopping. I have earned over 10,000 points, which has been redeemed for over $75.00 in gift cards- Starbucks, Target, Chevron Gas!
