My day of free- a success!

Well, mostly.  Pesky sales tax!

My first trip was to Albertsons. I bought:

2 Kraft Mac n' Cheese $3.79 each(I received coupons for free products from Kraft)

2 Ronzoni Pasta products $1.69 each(I received coupons free products for filling out a survey from Ronzoni)

1 Bottle of Sauve Shampoo $1.99 each (Free coupon from Facebook- up to a $3.00 value)

1 DiGiorno Pizza $6.49(I received a $4.00 off Coupon from Kraft- I think.  It just appeared in my mail box one day.)

1 package of pens- $1.00.  There was overage, and I needed a non-food item (so as not to effect my grocery OOP for the week) to suck up the overage.  This resulted in a small OOP and sales tax.

I don't really shop at Albertson's all that much, so I didn't realize that when the checker scanned the coupons the register would automatically deduct the full value of each coupon, even if it exceeded the amount of the purchase price.  That's why I got overage.

Pens not pictured- I left them in my car- they're going to work with me.

My next stop was CVS, where I have an Extra Care Buck worth $2.00 that was expiring soon.  We needed milk.  I scanned my CVS card at the entryway kiosk, and it spit out $2.50 MORE in ECB!

I picked up a gallon of fat free milk for $2.89, and I had a .55 coupon for the milk.  I also picked up a 2 liter of diet wild cherry Pepsi for my husband.  The shelf tag said $1.99.  Not a screaming deal, but we don't drink a lot of soda and he needed a treat for sticking with the All You Grocery Challenge. When I got to the register, it turns of the soda was only .99 and the .55 off coupon would have generated "too much" overage to quote the cashier, so I kept it.

my total OOP... .03!!

The receipt shows 3 items, but the CVS system includes the bottle deposit/CRV as an item. :(

My next free adventure is heading over to Dream Dinners at 4pm for my free dinner for 3, courtesy of the Entertainment book!

WOO HOO!

  2. It was at the albie's over near hillcrest on the same aisle as the mac n' cheese in the box. It's the ONLY store I've found it at. Vons doesn't have it, nor does walmart, or target.
