Oh, cereal eaters!!

From our friends at Abundant food savings:

It is May 1st which always means new coupons on coupons.com first we got all the hot Kellog's coupons so General Mills cereals have also put up new copuons (not as great) $3 off Huggies pure & natural diapers/ Chiquita bites, Fresh Express salads, and Hidden Valley Ranch to go with the salad - I rarely see these and it's $1.50 off two.

And speaking of those hot Kellog's coupons take them to Target to take advantage of the Kellog's gift card deal which run through Saturday May 2,

Special K Cereals on sale $2.39 x 5 = $11.95 - $5 in coupon = $6.95 get a $5 gift card = $1.95 net

Remember you can then buy another 5 items with coupon and the gift card, pay $1.95 and get ANOTHER $5 gift card if you can get enough coupons. You'll need multiple computers.

(the coupons they refer to are at: www.coupons.com)

http://finance.yahoo.com/family-home/article/106963/Five-Everyday-Items-You-Don%27t-Need

Unless you have a sulfate allergy, expensive shampoo and personal care products aren't much different than their cheap counterparts.

And remember- with coupons and smart shopping tactics- sometimes a name brand is cheaper than the store brand.

For San Diego, CA area cheapsters....

One of my favorite places to shop for clothes: www.everything599.com/ Yes, they have plus size as well. It's the largest section of some of their stores. The store on college and university sells up to a 5x most of the time.

And also an ok $5.99 store: www.susiesdeals.com.  Not my fav., but they have nice basic tanktops.  It's mostly "mom clothes".  Not a very good plus sized section.

K mart doubling Coupons?

It's true!

Brooke and I hit the Kmart in Ramona on Sunday.  It was a nightmare.  The registers are not coupon friendly and the staff is not trained on how to accept coupons.  The cashier Brooke had asked her before he scanned each coupon, "Are you sure you bought this??"

He didn't ring through over 3/4 of her coupons and we had to go to the service desk and have them pull his drawer and get out all of the coupons, void the order and rescan it.

So, here's my thought:  Unless you are an avid Kmart shopper and know your local store, DON'T BOTHER.

Also- call and verify that your local store is participating in doubles- not all are.

For caregivers (that means moms and dads!!)

For anyone who is a care giver (that's moms and dads too), check out this program:

www.caregiversmarketplace.com/

It's free and a great way to get a rebate on all the diapers, wipes and other "stuff" on the list.

coupon get together and class

I will have a date by Sunday night.

It will be a Saturday, during the day time.

We will be doing a potluck lunch.  Everyone should bring a dish to share (or a few dollars to cover the cost of the beverages and ice), any coupons they wish to trade, and if you have items from your stash (food or HBA) that you want to trade or get rid of- bring those too.

We'll swap coupons, eat, and trade savings strategies.  Bring scissors and note taking materials.

I'll have handouts with info and strategies available for $5.00 each (sorry, I don't get free copying privileges at work).

A great money saving website-

Thanks to Brooke for the link:

www.abundantfoodsavings.com

And ladies (and gents)- The johnson and Johnson Buddy bars are a great overage item.  At target they are .97, and the Q's online and in the paper are for $1.00 off.  Each one you "buy" , you get .03 free.  .03 isn't a lot, but it adds up.

I bought about 10 bars last week, so that was $3.00 in overage.

Target gets reimbursed for the face value of the coupon plus 8 cents for each one they accept- so you aren't defrauding Target.

Most stores allow for overage, but they will not give you money out of the register, you need to buy something.
